Mark Austin studied at Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music and enjoys a busy career as conductor and pianist. He is in great demand as a coach, and works with singers performing at Royal Opera House, ENO, Glyndebourne, Garsington, Staatsoper Berlin and Deutsche Oper. He works regularly for the Solti Accademia di Bel Canto, and has acted as assistant conductor to Sir Mark Elder, Sir Colin Davis, Marin Alsop and Steuart Bedford. Mark is music director of Opera South, artistic director of Faust Ensemble and Associate Conductor of St. JOhn’s Orchestra. He performs regularly across the UK in venues such as Wigmore Hall, St John’s, Smith Square, St Martin’s-in-the-Fields and on BBC Radio 3. Future projects include productions of Barber of Seville, Hansel and Gretel and La Traviata, a tour to China and Faust Ensemble’s debut recording.
