Amanda Laidler was producer for Unexpected Opera from September 2014 until 2016. She has many years experience both in regional theatre and in opera. She has worked professionally in every department of theatre, other than acting. She has been responsible for press and marketing for several major companies and run both a repertory theatre and a small scale touring company. She has also worked for the RSC.
Captivated by opera in her late twenties, she joined Opera North as Press Officer and then Company Manager. Since then she has been Assistant to the Director of Wexford Festival Opera, Opera Ireland (formerly known as Dublin Grand Opera) and Tosca at Earls Court. More recently she has been part of the administration of Longborough Festival Opera for the last eight years.
Now a freelance arts administrator, in her spare time she is co-director of a young peoples music theatre group, for whom she also writes, and publicity officer for the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra. She is strongly committed to introducing new audiences to opera and music theatre, and enjoyed the opportunity to work with the inspiring Lynn Binstock and Unexpected Opera, and in particular to help bring The Rinse Cycle project to fruition.
